Position

We are hiring a passionate Engineering Manager for Sustaining Engineering. This critical team continuously improves open source software by resolving defects reported by customers. The software stack encompasses everything from the kernel to user space applications and IaaS platforms. As an engineering manager, you will lead one of our regional teams, reporting directly to the global Director of Sustaining Engineering.

The role includes:

  • Managing and leading a distributed team of engineers
  • Hiring, coaching, mentoring, and providing feedback for career development
  • Managing and measuring key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Supporting the timely delivery of bug fixes, patches, and technical solutions in various technology fields
  • Setting and managing expectations with engineering teams, senior management, and external stakeholders
  • Advocating and advancing modern software development practices
  • Collaborating with other teams in the organization

Key Requirements:

  • Professional software delivery experience using C, C++, Go, Python, or similar languages
  • Strong knowledge and passion for software development
  • Leadership experience with the ability to organize and prioritize complex problem resolution
  • Experience with version control systems like Git and debugging tools such as GDB
  • A strong commitment to testing methodologies and maintainable code quality
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
  • Familiarity with Linux, with a preference for Ubuntu
  • Experience with Open Source and Open Source Business Models
  • People management experience in a support organization is a plus
