About The Team
The Careem Data Science team is tasked with driving competitive value from data at scale by building AI models to optimize user experiences, decision-making, and operational efficiencies, ultimately leading the region’s AI ecosystem. As a tech leader in this team, you will spearhead this mission, collaborating with top data science talent while innovating user experiences through GenAI.
What You'll Do
- Collaborate in establishing a long-term vision for GenAI at Careem.
- Conduct exploratory analysis to understand the ecosystem and user behavior; identify new levers for improving metrics and build models of user behaviors for product enhancements using GenAI.
- Optimize product experience and uncover new opportunities by shaping and influencing models and instrumentation.
- Provide product leadership through data-backed recommendations to communicate business states, root causes of metric changes, and experimentation results that influence product and business decisions.
- Implement scalable machine learning GenAI solutions for production use on big data.
- Design and run randomized controlled experiments, analyze results, and communicate findings with other teams.
- Explore new data processing technologies and uphold industry best practices.
- Build and deploy retrieval augmented generation systems along with other large language model applications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, product managers, and domain experts to deliver AI-driven solutions.
What You'll Need
- 4-6 years of experience in machine learning, software engineering, Big Data methodologies, and transforming and cleaning structured and unstructured data.
- An advanced degree in a quantitative discipline such as Physics, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or Computer Science.
- Strong understanding of transformer architectures, attention mechanisms, and recent advancements in Large Language Models (LLMs).
- Experience with advanced prompting techniques, including Chain of Thought (CoT), in-context learning, and few-shot learning.
- Proficiency in using LangChain and LangChain Expression Language (LCEL) for building complex pipelines and workflows with LLMs.
- Experience developing observable LLM-powered systems through tracing to monitor performance in production environments.
- Familiarity with machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Knowledge of distributed training frameworks and optimizing model performance via techniques like mixed-precision training, gradient checkpointing, and model parallelism is advantageous.
- Proficiency in sequence-to-sequence models, self-supervised learning, and understanding NLP concepts including tokenization, parsing, and semantic analysis.
- Capability to create scalable and maintainable APIs using FastAPI or similar frameworks.
- Strong grasp of software engineering practices, including code versioning (e.g., Git), CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing.
- Experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases for managing training data and model artifacts.
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, as well as familiarity with data processing frameworks like Spark and Hive.
