Core42 Overview
Core42 is the UAE’s national-scale enabler for cloud and generative AI, integrating G42 Group’s expertise across multiple technology disciplines into a comprehensive platform for public sector and large enterprise transformations. As a Senior Systems Engineer focused on Storage Infrastructure, you will engage in the design and implementation of extra-large scale storage infrastructure and provide Level 3 expert support, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and reliability.
Responsibilities
- Co-design and implement PBs-level block, object, and file storage solutions as integral components of Cloud and HPC environments, ensuring stability, performance, and compliance with industry standards.
- Collaborate with architecture and engineering teams to evaluate and select storage and backup technology components, ensuring solutions are optimized functionally and non-functionally.
- Perform regular capacity planning to meet current and future storage infrastructure demands.
- Develop and implement technical changes to enhance storage infrastructure reliability, ensuring high availability of services.
- Implement performance optimization strategies and explore advanced storage technologies and methodologies such as Software-Defined Storage (SDS).
- Design and enhance observability stacks in collaboration with operations teams to ensure effective monitoring.
- Provide Level 3 expert support, including on-call shifts, and serve as the final resolution tier for Level 2 support teams.
- Collaborate with security teams to protect systems against cybersecurity threats.
- Maintain documentation ensuring completeness and quality.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in designing, implementing, and managing large-scale software-defined storage solutions.
- Hands-on experience with storage systems from leading vendors (e.g., HPE, Dell, NetApp, Hitachi, IBM).
- Proficient with various storage protocols such as iSCSI, S3, NFS, FC[oE], NVME over TCP.
- Strong understanding of Linux and the storage stack, with debugging capabilities.
- Experience with object storage solutions and cloud-native backup solutions for OpenStack is preferred.
- Familiarity with clustered/parallel file systems, containerization technologies, and identity management and access solutions.
- Knowledge of backup systems, disaster recovery principles, and data protection strategies.
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools, understanding of CI/CD principles, and scripting using Python and/or Golang.
