As a Principal Engineer, you will design, develop, implement, and support infrastructure solutions for the group in alignment with corporate business and IT strategies. This role requires engagement with internal and external stakeholders while taking full responsibility for the implemented solutions and operational availability of production infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Develop IT solutions that meet customer requirements, ensuring that designs are robust, high-quality, and conform to corporate standards.
- Own, manage, and maintain solution designs of complex/large projects, products, environments, or platforms.
- Provide expert technical consultancy and guidance within the technology domain.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of Architecture Guiding Principles.
- Lead corporate IT Standards, analyze the potential impact of competing technologies, and periodically review our entire IT estate.
- Ensure implemented solutions meet the service level requirements in terms of availability, capacity, security, performance, and reliability.
- Publish and maintain high-quality documentation for the technology area.
- Manage the End-of-Life replacement of equipment/software within the technology domain.
- Lead technical design reviews and provide expert advice on technical and architectural standards.
Requirements
- Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent) in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Computational Mathematics, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering.
- 8+ years of experience in a related IT Engineering role.
- Expertise in designing and managing scalable, resilient, and automated private cloud platforms.
- Proficiency in building API-driven self-service capabilities for infrastructure consumption.
- Experience in implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions.
- Understanding of CI/CD pipeline development for infrastructure automation.
- Knowledge of self-service automation capabilities and integration with service management and orchestration platforms.
- Strong understanding of security, compliance, and IT governance principles.
- Experience in designing and implementing X-as-a-Service (XaaS) offerings.
