Position Overview
As a proficient Android Engineer, you will play a pivotal role within the ether.fi team. We are seeking an individual with robust skills in Android development. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in Kotlin, Android SDK, and Jetpack Compose, along with a proven track record of building innovative mobile applications. Your responsibilities will primarily revolve around crafting intuitive, secure, and high-performance native Android applications that seamlessly integrate with blockchain networks. We're looking for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, values user experience, and is eager to contribute to the evolution of decentralized applications.
This role is based in one of our three offices (Toronto, Denver, or Cayman Islands). We provide work authorization for Cayman, and our team works onsite four times a week while allowing remote work for four weeks of the year. You may work out of any of our offices anytime.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain highly responsive, visually appealing Android applications using Kotlin, Android SDK, and Jetpack Compose.
- Collaborate with our product and design team to conceptualize and implement new features in Figma that enhance user experience and drive engagement within Android applications.
- Apply Figma designs to the Android app.
- Work closely with blockchain developers to integrate efficient data querying using GraphQL or other relevant technologies.
- Implement Android-compatible web3 technologies to enable blockchain functionalities like transactions, wallet connections, and smart contract interactions within the DApps.
- Uphold application performance, quality, and responsiveness standards, ensuring code integrity and organization throughout the Android development process.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in blockchain technology, Android development, and security protocols to continuously enhance the product's functionality and security.
- Create Unit and UI-tests and establish a smooth CI/CD flow for internal/external testing and production releases.
- Communicate with Play Store representatives to ensure a smooth and timely release of the app with every update.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Kotlin, Android SDK, and Jetpack Compose with a minimum of three years of experience in Android development.
- Demonstrated expertise in building Android applications, including interaction with backends and databases (GraphQL experience is a plus).
- Familiarity with Android-compatible blockchain interaction libraries such as KEthereum, WalletConnect, or similar frameworks is a plus.
- Knowledge of development tools and methodologies, including version control systems like Git, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, and automated testing frameworks tailored for Android.
- Experience or prior work in Blockchain, especially within the Ethereum ecosystem, is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly and concisely.
