About the Job
The Lead Systems Engineer - Storage Infrastructure engages in the design, leads implementation, and provides Level 3 expert support for extra-large scale storage infrastructure, ensuring the highest levels of performance, scalability, and reliability. This role is critical as the engineer leads a team responsible for block, object, or file storage solutions and backup services.

Responsibilities
- Co-design, lead implementation, and manage PBs-level block, object, and file storage solutions as integral components of Cloud and HPC environments.
- Define and oversee the roadmap implementation for all storage solutions and services across the organization.
- Collaborate with architecture and other engineering teams on storage and backup technology component evaluation and selection.
- Lead capacity planning exercises to accommodate growing demands on storage infrastructure.
- Develop and implement plans to enhance storage infrastructure reliability.
- Explore and implement performance optimization strategies for storage solutions.
- Lead evaluation and integration of advanced storage technologies and methodologies.
- Define and oversee disaster recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Design and enhance observability stacks in collaboration with relevant teams.
- Provide Level 3 expert support and lead problem analysis efforts.
- Mentor and lead a team of storage engineers while collaborating with other platform engineering teams.
- Work with security management teams to ensure systems are secure from cybersecurity threats.
- Maintain relevant documentation for completeness and quality.
- Contribute to process development in collaboration with operational teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience leading a team of engineers responsible for infrastructure project delivery.
- 7+ years of experience in designing, implementing, and managing large-scale software-defined storage (SDS) solutions.
- Hands-on experience with storage systems from leading vendors (HPE, Dell, NetApp, etc.).
- Deep knowledge of various storage protocols (iSCSI, S3, NFS, etc.) and proficiency with Linux/Linux kernel.
- Advanced experience managing object storage solutions and cloud-native backup solutions.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies and data center network design.
- Understanding of CI/CD principles and Infrastructure as Code (IaaC) approaches.
- Advanced level skills in programming and scripting using Python and/or Golang.
