About the Job
The Senior Systems Engineer engages in the design, leads implementation, and provides Level 3 expert support for large-scale private cloud computing infrastructure, focusing specifically on computing technologies such as the hardware layer, operating system, hypervisor, and orchestration services. This role is critical for ensuring the stability, performance, and compliance of our virtualization platforms.

Responsibilities
- Co-design, implement, and manage hybrid virtualization and containerized platforms based on OpenStack, VMware VCF, and/or Red Hat OpenShift, ensuring platform stability, performance, and adherence to industry standards.
- Collaborate with architecture and engineering teams on component evaluation and selection, optimizing solutions from both functional and non-functional perspectives.
- Conduct regular capacity planning to anticipate and accommodate the growing demands on the virtualized environment.
- Develop and implement plans to enhance the reliability of the computing infrastructure, ensuring high availability of services.
- Explore and implement performance optimization strategies for the cloud computing environment.
- Collaborate on performance assessments and implement improvements based on findings.
- Manage complex changes to production environments and support operational teams.
- Develop automation solutions for the cloud platform using tools such as Jenkins, Selenium, Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, Chef, and GitLab CI/CD.
- Provide Level 3 expert support, including on-call shifts, focusing on incident management and resolutions.
- Write and maintain relevant documentation, ensuring completeness and quality.
- Collaborate with security teams to ensure system safety against cybersecurity threats.
- Contribute to process development and standardize collaboration frameworks.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Software Engineering, or a relevant technology field.
- 7+ years of experience in designing, implementing, and managing private cloud stacks with a focus on compute and virtualization technologies.
- Extensive hands-on experience with platforms such as OpenStack, Apache CloudStack, VMware VCF, and Red Hat OpenShift, as well as related technologies (x86 hardware, OS, KVM/ESXi).
- Expert level in Linux with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience.
- A profound understanding of hardware architecture including x86 and ARM, along with good networking and storage knowledge.
- Experience managing large-scale public/private cloud environments or in a cloud service provider environment is desirable.
- Advanced programming and scripting skills in Python and/or Golang, as well as proficiency in Linux-based environments.
- Familiarity with data center network designs and related technologies, CI/CD principles, Infrastructure as Code (IaaC), and database management (SQL and NoSQL).
- Relevant certifications in Linux, virtualization, and cloud computing are a plus.
- Strong organizational skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
