This role requires providing operational management of all Data Centres (both colocation & in-house) and Equipment Rooms across the MENAT Region, with a focus on maintaining the integrity of Data Centre services in support of IT hardware and personnel. The position emphasizes continuous operation and evolution of infrastructure and floor management practices, necessitating a strong interface with Corporate Services, wider infrastructure, Physical Security, and colocation vendor teams. Key responsibilities include ensuring minimal service disruption due to infrastructure failure, providing leadership and technical support across the MENAT Region, and managing ongoing risks and issues. The role holder will represent these aspects at Regional and Global Risk forums, ensuring that appropriate lines of defense are established.
HSBC Data Centres are critical hubs that manage highly sensitive data coupled with complex engineering systems. The Data Centre Operations (DCO) team consists of technical and specialist skills to guarantee that essential engineering services are operated, maintained, and upgraded as technology evolves.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Manage Data Center Infrastructure operations continuously, 24/7/365.
- Oversee physical security and access control procedures for Data Centers and equipment rooms.
- Ensure compliance with Change Management protocols.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to maintain the integrity of mechanical and electrical infrastructure.
- Offer technical support during incidents and to Problem Management across MENAT.
- Oversee floor operations including power, space, and cooling management.
- Identify the appropriate technical expertise for project management and operational tasks.
- Manage regional projects such as new data centers, relocations, and facility closures.
- Lead financial planning for capital and operational expenses.
- Oversee the inventory and movement of tape/media.
- Implement energy-saving initiatives in line with HSBC’s Net-Zero ambitions.
- Ensure compliance with Data Centre controls in MENAT while providing technical/project support.
- Monitor adherence to policies and standards to ensure assurance.
- Collaborate with the regional Regulatory and Compliance Manager to ensure compliance with internal and external regulatory requirements.
Requirements:
- A graduation degree is necessary for securing a UAE Visa and Work Permit.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in IT infrastructure, including at least 1 year in Data Centre Infrastructure with Mechanical and Electrical Management.
- Experience with Financial Planning, Capital Projects, and Depreciation is required.
- Demonstrated skills in Relationship Management, Operational and Reputational Risk, Line Management, and Leadership.
- Preferred qualifications include international mobility and innovative thinking.
