We are seeking a Senior Hardware Security Researcher to conduct advanced security research and comprehensive security testing and vulnerability assessments for various hardware products, services, and systems. This role necessitates a profound understanding of hardware security, including hardware penetration testing, exploitation, secure hardware design practices, and advanced threat modeling.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and Conduct Hardware Security Research: Perform in-depth security research on hardware devices to identify vulnerabilities and develop proof-of-concept exploits. Analyze complex hardware systems for weaknesses and develop strategies for mitigation.
  • Hardware Security Testing and Assessment: Conduct comprehensive assessments including side-channel analysis, fault injection testing, and reverse engineering. Develop and enhance security assessment methodologies and tools, and perform hardware design reviews to identify security flaws.
  • Project Management: Coordinate medium to large hardware security testing projects, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality assessments.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, provide security guidance, and ensure secure hardware development practices. Produce detailed security reports and present findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Mentorship and Development: Mentor junior researchers and colleagues, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Client Relationship Management: Build and nurture relationships with clients to understand their needs and deliver high-quality security research and evaluation work.
  • Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on the latest security trends and contribute to the development of innovative security solutions and best practices.

Job Specifications

  • Education: BS/MS/PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Security, or a related field, or equivalent experience demonstrating exceptional ability.
  • Minimum Work Experience: A combined total of 5+ years in hardware security research and security assessment, with experience in people management and project management.

Skills/Certifications

  • Technical Expertise:

    • Deep understanding of hardware security vulnerabilities, threats, and attack vectors.
    • Proficiency in hardware penetration testing and secure hardware design practices.
    • Familiarity with security assessment tools and methodologies like side-channel analysis and reverse engineering.
    • Knowledge of hardware description languages (e.g., VHDL, Verilog) and modern hardware development practices.
    • Experience with cryptographic algorithms and protocols, including common vulnerabilities.
  • Interpersonal and Management Skills:

    • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills; ability to manage various cross-functional team members and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Communication Skills:

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to convey technical information to non-technical audiences effectively.
