The main goal of Microsoft Technology Specialists (TS) is to win the technical decision of customers to purchase and utilize Microsoft technology and cloud services, including databases, Analytics (such as Azure Databricks and Microsoft Fabric), and the Azure AI Platform. The TS is expected to aid the customers’ technical evaluators and decision-makers in making informed decisions while identifying new opportunities for sales specialists to pursue.

As a TS, you will collaborate within a virtual team of technical, partner, and consulting resources to educate customers at a technical level, demonstrate our solutions, and secure their technical decisions, enabling the team to meet or surpass quarterly sales targets in your accounts. You will maintain and develop your deep technical expertise across Microsoft and non-Microsoft cloud-based technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical discussions with customers using consultative sales methodology and technical expertise to understand customer needs and demonstrate how Microsoft solutions address them.
  • Build a technical strategy that aligns with the customer's vision, resolves concerns, and develops a strong business case for investment by translating technology complexity into business impact.
  • Conduct technical assessments to create a landscape map and build migration and modernization plans.
  • Design solutions using technical knowledge and best practices to meet customer needs and ensure stakeholders agree with the proposed architecture.
  • Drive proofs of concept and pilots to generate momentum for Minimum Viable Products (MVPs), integrating key AI technologies where needed.
  • Act as a trusted advisor, understanding customer pain points, and providing tailored solutions accompanied by business cases.
  • Share insights and best practices with the Engineering team, acting as the Voice of the Customer to address blockers and drive product improvements.
  • Stay updated on Data Modernization (Azure Cosmos DB and Open Source DB), Analytics & Data warehousing technologies, and AI tools, sharing knowledge within the Data & AI technical community.
  • Function as an Azure platform evangelist for Analytics & Data Warehousing scenarios, supporting modernization of legacy data warehouses and cloud migrations.
  • Strengthen partner relationships, identify skill gaps, and provide feedback to internal teams to enhance partner technical capacity.
  • Collaborate with customers and the account team to develop a technical skilling plan.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience; OR
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field AND 4+ years of technical pre-sales or consulting experience; OR
  • A Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field AND 3+ years of technical pre-sales or consulting experience; OR
  • Equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Data and Analytics platforms (e.g., Snowflake, MongoDB, AWS Redshift, GCP BigQuery) including their financial performance and roadmaps.
  • Experience utilizing partner solutions to address customer needs and scale opportunities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with customers, account teams, and partners, helping others find innovative solutions.
  • Excellent communicator with strong presentation skills and the ability to demo deep technical product functionalities.
  • Hands-on expertise with Analytics Platforms (Azure Fabric, Azure Data Explorer) and databases (SQL and NoSQL).
  • 3+ years of hands-on programming experience (Scala, Python, SQL).
  • Deep domain experience in GenAI landscapes (Azure OpenAI, AWS Anthropic).
  • Proven ability to build strong technical relationships with senior executives and manage stakeholder relationships effectively.
