Role Overview
As the Senior Part-Time Golang Performance Engineer, you will work closely with the founding engineer to scale and enhance the platform's backend infrastructure. This role focuses on optimizing performance, ensuring stability under high traffic loads, and identifying opportunities to make our systems faster and more efficient. The position is fully remote, with asynchronous communication at its core, making it ideal for a self-motivated and independent professional.
Responsibilities
- Performance Optimization: Analyze and improve backend performance, including database queries, API endpoints, and application logic.
- Scalability Enhancements: Scale the platform to handle increasing traffic while ensuring reliability and speed.
- Infrastructure Improvements: Implement and refine server configurations, load balancing, and caching strategies.
- Code Reviews & Refactoring: Audit and refactor existing Golang code for efficiency, maintainability, and scalability.
- Monitoring & Debugging: Set up and maintain monitoring tools to proactively detect and resolve performance issues.
- Asynchronous Collaboration: Communicate effectively with the team using asynchronous tools and processes to align on priorities and goals.
Requirements
- Experience: 5+ years in backend development, with 3+ years specializing in Golang.
- Proven Track Record: Demonstrated success in optimizing high-traffic applications and systems.
- Tech Stack Knowledge: Proficiency with PostgreSQL, Redis, and cloud infrastructure (AWS, DigitalOcean, etc.).
- Self-Starter: Comfortable working independently and making decisions with minimal supervision.
- Asynchronous Communication: Skilled at using tools like Slack, Trello, or Notion for remote collaboration.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and resolve complex backend and performance issues.
- Timezone Alignment: Available for some overlap with UAE or KSA working hours.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, or similar monitoring tools.
- Familiarity with containerization (Docker).
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and deployment strategies.
