Position

This is an opportunity to run a field engineering team, assisting customers in understanding and implementing Canonical's open-source solutions in public clouds and their own data centers. The role encompasses a broad spectrum of cloud offerings, including Ubuntu, virtualization, private cloud, and Kubernetes, along with sophisticated open-source solutions like MLOps platforms and data platforms. The Field Engineering team consists of cloud solutions architects who work directly with customers to design and implement private and public cloud solutions tailored to their needs.

As a Cloud Field Engineering Manager at Canonical, you will be responsible for line management and career guidance, developing engineering talent, and representing your team from a technical perspective. You will lead and nurture a team of field engineers, solving customer problems, engaging in technical presales, and driving collaboration with internal teams and clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a team of field engineers, from graduate to senior levels
  • Solve customer challenges and promote relevant technologies
  • Coach and mentor team members, providing career development feedback
  • Represent your team and products to stakeholders, partners, and customers
  • Implement disciplined engineering processes
  • Actively participate in technical presales to help achieve quarterly goals

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of cloud computing concepts and technologies (Kubernetes, OpenStack, AWS, GCP, Azure, Ceph)
  • Practical knowledge of Linux and networking
  • Experience in technical presales
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to lead, coach, and mentor engineers
  • Strong organization skills to ensure timely delivery of high-quality results
  • An exceptional academic background
  • Preference for candidates who speak a second language (Spanish or French)
