Position

Canonical is a leading provider of open-source software and operating systems to the global enterprise and technology markets. Our platform, Ubuntu, is widely used in groundbreaking enterprise initiatives such as public cloud, data science, AI, engineering innovation, and IoT. We are hiring a Cloud Support Associate Engineer to support the technical needs of customers leveraging Ubuntu and open-source products. This role offers an opportunity for a hands-on engineer eager to learn and passionate about Linux and cloud technologies. You will work with industry experts to solve complex technical problems, providing expert-level support regarding various issues, including Cloud environment troubleshooting, OS configuration, and root cause analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support via telephone, email, and web.
  • Ensure timely updates to internal customers, managing cases per our Service Level Agreement (SLA).
  • Contribute to knowledge base articles and maintain existing documentation.
  • Communicate technical notices internally and externally.
  • Prioritize tasks to focus on the most important and urgent issues.
  • Participate in a weekend work rotation as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (Computer Science, MIS, Electrical Engineering, etc.).
  • Experience with Linux troubleshooting and server administration.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud computing concepts.
  • Basic hands-on experience with virtualization, cloud, containers, storage technologies, and networking.
  • Programming fundamentals in any language such as bash, Perl, Ruby, JavaScript, C, C++, or Go.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • Background check required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting virtualized environments (e.g., KVM, Virtual Box, VMWare).
  • Active contributions to open-source projects.

  • This is a full-time remote role available in AMER, EMEA, or APAC time zones.
