The position is remote, and the candidate must be located in one of three Geos: Americas, EMEA, or APAC, to effectively manage a team that operates across multiple time zones. Our Internet of Things mission focuses on enabling companies to create fleets of secure connected devices, with Canonical providing the base Ubuntu OS and kernel along with secure update and management mechanisms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a team of Field Engineers in Presales and Professional Services.
  • Solve customer problems by promoting Canonical's technologies and serving as a trusted advisor.
  • Coach, mentor, and provide career development feedback to team members.
  • Identify and measure team health indicators.
  • Implement disciplined engineering processes.
  • Represent the team to stakeholders, partners, and customers.
  • Collaborate with other leaders in the company.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Exceptional academic track record from both high school and university, with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • Extensive embedded Linux experience, preferably with Yocto, Debian, or Ubuntu.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Golang, Python, C, C++, or Rust.
  • Ability to manage a small team and experience with customer engagements.
  • Professional written and spoken English skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability.

Desirable Traits:

  • Experience with RTOS.
  • Proficiency in additional languages (both programming and human).
  • Previous experience working in a remote-first and diverse organization.

Compensation and Benefits:
Canonical provides competitive compensation based on geographical location, experience, and performance. Benefits include:

  • Annual compensation reviews.
  • Performance-driven bonuses or commissions.
  • Personal learning and development budget of USD 2,000 per year.
  • Distributed work environment with team sprints twice a year.
  • Annual holiday leave, maternity and paternity leave.
  • Employee Assistance Program.
  • Opportunities to travel to meet colleagues globally.
