About the Job
We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist with 8 to 12 years of experience to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have deep technical skills in MS SQL Server, Ab Initio GDE, Ab Initio, and Unix. This hybrid role offers the flexibility of working both remotely and on-site with no travel required. The successful candidate will contribute to our data-driven initiatives, helping to drive business insights and improve decision-making processes.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of data models using MS SQL Server to support business intelligence initiatives.
- Supervise the development and maintenance of ETL processes using Ab Initio GDE and Ab Initio to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
- Guide in Unix scripting to automate data processing tasks and streamline workflows.
- Collaborate with multi-functional teams to gather and analyze business requirements, translating them into technical specifications.
- Develop and deploy machine learning models to extract actionable insights from large datasets.
- Conduct data analysis and visualization to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies that can inform business strategies.
- Ensure data quality and consistency by implementing robust data validation and cleansing procedures.
- Mentor junior data scientists and provide guidance on standard processes and methodologies.
- Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve data science capabilities.
- Communicate findings and recommendations to team members through clear and concise reports and presentations.
- Optimize data storage and retrieval processes to enhance system performance and scalability.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to the development of coding standards and best practices.
- Support ad-hoc data requests and provide analytical support for various projects and initiatives.
Qualifications
- Possess a solid background in MS SQL Server with extensive experience in database design and optimization.
- Demonstrate proficiency in Ab Initio GDE and Ab Initio for ETL development and data integration.
- Exhibit advanced skills in Unix scripting for automating data processing tasks.
- Hold a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
- Have a proven track record of developing and deploying machine learning models.
- Show excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
- Display good communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective stakeholder engagement.
- Nice to have experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure is a plus.
- Experience in mentoring and guiding junior team members is desirable.
Salary and Other Compensation
The annual salary for this position is between $120,000 – $130,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
