About the Job
The role of Application Services Engineer is crucial for the day-to-day application service management and operations. This position is responsible for ensuring service availability, optimal performance, and security of systems, including operating systems and related services. The Application Operations Engineer will also participate in system capacity evaluation and planning.
Responsibilities
- Investigate and coordinate the resolution of potential and actual application/service problems.
- Ensure that operational documentation for the system is fit for purpose and current.
- Advise on the correct and effective use of the system.
- Review application/system software updates and identify those that merit action.
- Utilize application/system management software and tools to collect logs and perform analysis.
- Execute agreed application operational procedures, including application configuration, installation, and maintenance.
- Use application management tools to collect and report application performance statistics and error logs.
- Automate application tasks, processes, and deployments as efficiently as possible.
- Monitor service components of the applications.
- Receive and respond to routine support requests, investigating in accordance with established procedures.
- Assist users with their work and issues.
- Perform application administration tasks and troubleshoot issues.
- Assist in the investigation and resolution of integrations with the application.
- Provide knowledge transfer and training to other application services engineers.
- Enforce, incorporate, and comply with all necessary controls and information security policies, procedures, practices, training, reporting, and due diligence.
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
- A tertiary-level qualification from an internationally recognized institution in computer science or a related subject area.
Years & Nature of Experience
- 3 to 5 years of experience demonstrating the required competencies.
- Experience delivering on difficult technical tasks and project implementation.
- Self-sufficient with small project responsibilities.
- Experience in providing technical supervision to junior staff.
