IBM Research invites applications for postdoctoral positions in IBM’s Computational Climate and Sustainability Research team. We are seeking outstanding candidates who have obtained their Doctoral degree within the last five years. Applicants who are currently finalizing their doctoral dissertations for examination may apply, provided they submit them by 31 May 2023. The positions are located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and you will be hired as a regular IBM employee for a contract duration of 24-36 months.

Your Role and Responsibilities
As a Postdoctoral Researcher, you will focus on defining research questions, formulating hypotheses, and developing innovative solutions using cutting-edge technologies. You will work within a collaborative environment to explore solutions related to climate and sustainability challenges.

Requirements

• Have completed a Doctoral degree in Physical, Atmospheric, or Computer Science, or Civil or Electrical Engineering within the last five years.
• Demonstrable research proficiency and substantial programming experience as it relates to AI, ML modeling, data engineering, applied mathematics, and statistics.
• Proficiency in state-of-the-art programming languages (Python, C++, Java, etc.) and familiarity with data science and machine learning methods.
• Experience with deep learning, transformer models, and computational mathematics is advantageous.
• Preferably familiar with climate and atmospheric sciences and relevant remote sensing research methodologies.
