To maintain our competitive advantage as we expand, we are currently seeking a Point of Sale (POS) Field Technician.
Purpose:
You will be responsible for the on-site setup of hardware for POS deployments, customer on-site training, and the repair and reconfiguration of existing customer hardware.
Key Accountabilities:
- Set up hardware such as ECR/Point of Sale/POS touchscreens, printers, scanners, cash drawers, and payment devices, including device connections to power and network, and configuration.
- Ensure tidy installation of devices and manage cable organization.
- Access and configure networks to support the functionality of devices including IP printers, kitchen displays, and access points.
- Ensure sufficient wireless network coverage for devices and plan for additional access points as needed.
- Test completed setups to confirm proper configuration and functioning.
- Troubleshoot issues reported by customers and identify hardware or configuration problems, rectifying them according to best practices.
- Train customers on hardware and software usage, addressing questions as they arise.
- Diagnose issues with hardware and configuration and devise resolution plans.
- Manage hardware deployments, configurations, and issue resolutions through a ticketing system.
- Repair or replace any damaged or non-functioning hardware.
- Liaise with offsite support for deployment or resolution assistance.
- Manage time effectively and deliver results to customers within agreed service level agreements (SLAs).
Required Work Experience:
- 2+ years of experience in a technical role in software, Information Technology, or SaaS.
- Proven track record of meeting SLAs and demonstrating sound technical fundamentals.
Desirable Experience:
- Degree or professional qualification in IT, Software, Engineering, Networking, or a related field.
- Experience and knowledge of the ECR (POS) sector.
Required Skills/Competencies:
- Fluent in Arabic and English.
- Good fundamental knowledge of networking setup and configuration.
- Strong general IT knowledge.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to handle a high volume of support requests.
- Proven problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment under pressure.
- Strong customer-facing communication abilities.
- Data-driven mindset and comfortable working to KPIs.
- Self-motivated with a drive to meet or exceed support targets.
- Passionate about new technology and software.
Desirable Skills/Competencies:
- Driver's license and own vehicle.
- Familiarity with ECR, POS devices, and network printers is a plus.
- Experience with support ticketing systems is an advantage.
- Flexibility with working hours, including evenings or weekends.
