Technology sales at IBM is evolving its way of working to break beyond boundaries with innovative approaches. Preferring to ‘show’ vs. ‘tell’, Platform Engineers co-create with clients, in real-time, on solutions to solve their hardest business challenges. As a Platform Engineer, you’ll be a key player in a multi-disciplinary team made up of Architects, AI Engineers, Designers, and Business Technology Leaders. Collaborating with clients, you will contribute to experiential working sessions and builds that produce pilots leading to the deployment of enterprise-scale solutions at start-up speed. Your Role and Responsibilities
As a Platform Engineer, you’ll deliver unique client co-creation experiences to accelerate their transformation. Your responsibilities will include:
- Technical Expertise & Client Understanding: leverage contemporary hybrid cloud skills like AI, analytics, DevOps, and DevSecOps while deeply understanding clients’ businesses to tailor solutions effectively.
- Technology & Solution Communication: articulate IBM’s technology value, both technically and commercially, and participate in client sessions focused on cloud technologies like Red Hat OpenShift and IBM Cloud Paks.
- Solution Architecture & Deployment Support: advise on solution architecture to align with best practices and ensure seamless transitions of platform assets for clients.
Requirements
- Technical: experience in a cloud-related domain (Data/Analytics, Data Science, Security, etc.) and proficiency in at least one common cloud native programming language (Java, Python, HCL, Rust, Ansible, etc.).
- Solution Development & Deployment: experience in building deployment automation workflows for applications and an understanding of Agile best practices in development processes.
- Client-Facing Experience: proven record in participating in customer-facing technical solutions teams across various cloud architectures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in technical operations roles (site reliability or platform engineering) in hybrid-cloud and on-premises environments.
- Experience as a Solution Architect or public cloud consultant deploying solutions on AWS, Azure, IBM Cloud, or Google Cloud.
- Relevant technical certifications (e.g., CNCF, AWS, IBM Cloud, Azure, Google Cloud, DevOps).

- Travel Required: Up to 40% or 2 days a week (home on weekends based on project requirements)
